GPE celebrates Topping Out of Minerva House, SE1
Great Portland Estates plc (GPE) has structurally completed Minerva House, SE1, also known as The Delft, and marked the milestone with a Topping Out Ceremony alongside construction partners Morrisroe and Multiplex.
Speeches were delivered by Dan Nicholson (GPE Executive Director) and Helen Hare (GPE Director of Projects), Paul Cluskey (Morrisroe Director of Demolition Services) and Callum Tuckett (Multiplex Managing Director). Guests including Opera, Gardiner & Theobald, Heyne Tillet Steel, John Robertson Architects, Hoare Lea all joined a ceremonial concrete lay on level 9, with over 80 attendees from the extended supply chain.
Minerva House, SE1 is undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment to deliver 143,000 sq ft of premium Ready to Fit office space, representing a 56% increase on its previous area. The redesigned building will fully capitalise on its prime river frontage, with the addition of new storeys, the creation of outdoor terraces and best-in-class amenity spaces offering panoramic views across central London. The scheme embraces circular economy principles, retaining and reusing over 75% of the existing structure and 50% of the existing façade. In a notable sustainability initiative, 20 tonnes of recovered glass will be repurposed into new products for use across other developments in London.
It was a pleasure to bring everyone together to mark this landmark moment. Our entire team and our supply chain partners continue to drive innovation in delivering our next iconic best-in-class building. With great thanks for everything the Morrisroe team have achieved to date and we look forward to continue working with Multiplex as we move to the next stage of this great project.
